Director's Service Report

Greeting Friends,

In 2021, The Warminster Food Bank had a record number of families served and a record intake of food donations.

Our pre-pandemic highs were 476 families served and 42,000 pounds in food donations.  In 2021, we served 1250* families representing 4900 individuals and received 110,000** lbs. of food donations.

In the 25 years I have been associated with this organization,  I have truly come to believe that the Spirit moves food in miraculous ways and it finds those who need it most.

Food, like water, flows to the lowest point. Today, the lowest point are those who struggle with food insecurity.  It is our mission to divert, irrigate, and channel the food to where it is needed.

Our human fascination with food is found in all recorded history:

From the Prehistoric Cave paintings in Lascaux showing the hunt for food, Hieroglyphs of the ancient Egyptians gathering their harvests and recording their grain supplies, to the miraculous Biblical stories of Manna in the desert, the jar of flour and oil that lasted for years, and to the feeding of 5000 with only 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread.  Even in Christmas, the story of the birth of Christ has its own allegory to food inasmuch as Bethlehem in Hebrew means “House of Bread”, and a Manger is a place where animals were fed.

Bread, gives life, it sustains, it gives hope, and those who provide it for others are truly blessed.

We entered this year in the dark, with supplies dwindling, prices soaring, not knowing who, or how many families we would meet, and how we were going to help .

But, somehow, someway, we got it all done and with abundance.

During the year, the darkness of uncertainty was illuminated by the generosity of all of you, our volunteers and donors.

During this season of joy and renewed hope, you all are the light, and we are grateful that you have shared your bread, your talents, your resources, and your light for others.

Have a Happy Holiday.

Have a Blessed Christmas.

Have a Happy and Healthy New Year 2022

Regards,

Mike Cerino
